Apartment Hunting in Berlin - Berlin Furnished Apartments
Are you moving to Berlin for work or studies and aren’t having any luck with your apartment search? I’d recommend looking for a furnished apartment! As Berlin is becoming a hotspot for foreigners, there are luckily a ton of short term apartment rentals that offer fully furnished flats for limited time contracts.
In this blog post, I’ll show you how to find furnished flats in Berlin and introduce the 3 best websites you could use for your search.
Berlin Furnished Apartments Guide
The best websites for Furnished Flats in Berlin
#1 Wunderflats
The best website to find short term apartment rental in Berlin, from my personal experience, is Wunderflats. Wunderflats is a Berlin-based company that offers top-rated and fully furnished accommodation for workers and students in Berlin.
The accommodation is known to be a bit pricier than normal rentals in Berlin, but if you’re planning to stay in the city for a short period of time, this is the perfect choice. Finding a long-term apartment in Berlin is not only time-consuming, but it’s also a hassle having to buy new furniture (and a kitchen!) for just a short year or so stay.
I used Wunderflats back when I moved to Berlin in 2018 and I had an amazing experience, which is why I’m recommending it as my number one website for furnished flats in Berlin. They also have fantastic ratings, you can Google them and see for yourself.
How Wunderflats works- Steps To Find Your Furnished Flat in Berlin
You can find all types of apartments on Wunderflats, from one room apartments to studios to 2-3 room apartments. Use the filters to narrow down your search and add the dates of your stay.
Once you’ve found an apartment you like, all you need to do is request to book (kinda similar to Airbnb, but with more documents). Then you will wait for the landlord’s response. B
Steps to find a furnished flat with Wunderflats
- Create a profile and fill out your info
- Upload all of your relevant documents. This includes pay slips and bank account statements.
- Add your ideal dates
- Find the perfect furnished flat
- Request to book
- Wait for landlords’ approval
#2 Blueground
Another website you can use to find fully furnished and serviced apartments in Berlin is Blueground. Similar to Wunderflats, this website allows you to find and rent furnished flats in Berlin so you don’t need to worry about finding traditional apartments.
Also like Wundferflats, their website allows you to view a map of furnished rentals options and it has filters to narrow your flat search preferences.
Although I haven’t used this site for my accommodation in Berlin, I’ve heard positive things about it. The prices seem to be a bit cheaper than Wundeflats, but also not as fancy. Either way, this website seems like a great option to use for your Berlin furnished apartment search.
#3 Homelike
Next on the list of the best websites to find furnished apartments in Berlin is Homelike. Homelike is another great option for flexible, fully furnished, and serviced apartments in Berlin. They offer all types of fully furnished accommodation in Berlin, including one-room apartments, studios, 2-3-room apartments, and even rooms in shared flats.
Apartments through Homelike are high-quality and in great central areas of Berlin. The only downside I see about Homelike is that their selection isn’t huge and they tend to be luxury apartments and more on the expensive side. Nonetheless, they offer high-quality apartments and have positive reviews, so I’d recommend trying out this website for your flat search.
Berlin Furnished Apartments Are The Way To Go
What are the benefits of furnished apartments in Berlin?
There are many benefits that comes along with booking a fully furnished flat in Berlin. For starters, you don’t have to buy new furniture, just to need to sell everything a year or so later. You also don’t have to worry about the high competition that comes with applying to long-term rentals.
Another perk about booking a furnished and fully serviced apartment in Berlin is that you don’t have to worry about a deposit. When renting in Berlin, the usual deposits required for apartments are 3 times your monthly rent. This can be a huge added cost when moving to Berlin, making it even harder to find a flat.
Best Areas for Short Term Apartment Rentals in Berlin
If you haven't yet noticed, Berlin is huge! There are so many nice neighborhoods to choose from, but these are the areas I'd recommend most to search for furnished housing.
- Friedrichshain- lots of young people, internationals, and students. This area has tons of trendy cafes and "cool people"
- Kreuzberg- same as Fhain, but even cooler. There's a mix of internationals and locals here, with cute cafes, clubs, and more.
- Prenzlauer Berg- One of the nicer sides of Berlin. This area is perfect for young professionals or families.
- Charlottenburg- If you're older and love the nicer/fancier things in life, this is the area for you. There are fewer internationals here, as it's known to be on the expensive and sophisticated side.
Conclusion
Overall, I’d recommend Wunderflats for their variety of accommodations, positive reviews, and number of available stays. Blueground is another great website for cheaper accommodation in Berlin, but their selection isn’t so huge. Lastly, use Homelike, especially if you are more flexible with your budget.
Hope this Berlin flat guide has been helpful and good luck with your furnished apartment search!
